Postcards From Hawai’i
Have you seen The Descendents yet? What a beautiful film! It felt like a love letter to Hawaii – aloha shirts, ukelele music, koa bowls, poverty – this movie had it all.
When Romeo and I were choosing which island to visit, we opted for the Island of Hawai’i. It’s the biggest island but fewer travelers venture there. We stayed on a five acre farm in a rural part of the island, swimming at the local beach and grilling fresh mahi for dinner. We met so many wonderful people, and made an extra-special new friend – a pot-bellied pig named Brian. Here’s my love letter to this very special part of the world. Aloha!
Big Cats
Cats and Cobblestones in Croatia
Inspired by photographer Aisha Harley’s stunning portrait of Turkey, I decided to put together a little photo essay of my journey to Croatia and some of its islands off the coast. Romeo and I wandered Croatia’s ancient cobblestone streets for hours, taking breaks to have freshly caught sardines washed down with glasses of red wine. We took the ferry to the islands of Mrcara and Vis, and snorkeled in the clear blue waters of the Adriatic. And we were constantly surrounded by Croatian cats – which actually made us feel very much at home.
