Summer Fashion Shoot
It’s about high time I posted more of my summer fashion shoot, especially now that summer’s starting to wind down here in Portland. Holly and I had first talked about working together back in March, so we were thinking of a going-to-the-prom look and feel. But by the time we had put our talented crew together, it was July and we were in the midst of a full-on heat wave. Which led us to the whole “hot town, summer in the city” vibe. Huge props go to Mary-Ann and April, our hair and makeup team, who volunteered their time and artistry. Not to mention our beautiful model, Dani, who worked it for two hours in the incredible heat. And of course, thanks to our fabulous designer and stylist – collaborating with Holly was truly inspiring!

Summer In The City
I love how Dani’s looks could change, from sweet and ethereal to totally bad-ass, like in the shot above. She’s so charismatic, plus Holly styled it all perfectly!

Lovely Dani
Here’s just a glimpse of Sunday’s fashion shoot. Even the blistering heat couldn’t stop us from being creative and putting some beauty out there. Stay tuned for the full edit!

Portland Spaces: Julia Barbee’s Studio
Remember this stunning tiara? It’s just one of Julia Barbee‘s beautiful and unique creations. Last December, this prolific Portland artist and designer opened up shop at 811 E. Burnside. Her space is equal parts studio, gallery, perfumery and vintage shop. Julia not only has an inspiring creative output, but she also works in a number of mediums, including textiles, scent and performance art. I adore her dresses, which are a little bit punk princess, a little bit rock and roll. Then there are her hair clips, necklaces and perfumes. For this year’s Open Season Mercury Fashion show, Julia draped belly dancers in sculptural headdresses made of crystals. I absolutely can’t wait to see what she does next!
Fit For A Queen
Finishing work on a shoot featuring the work and studio of one of my favorite local designers, Julia Barbee. Julia is an incredible artist and a very special soul, so stay tuned for the rest of this peek into her fascinating space…
Behind the Scenes: Modified Style Fashion Show
Here are some more shots from the Modified Style Fundraiser Fashion Show 2012 I shot a few weeks ago. So inspiring to be around so many creative and beautiful people! See the rest of the series here.
Nola
This is Nola, being made-up for the Modified Style fashion show last Sunday. Isn’t she beautiful? I also love Mary-Ann’s orange nails and cupcake tattoo. I had the pleasure of shooting the models getting ready for the event, and everyone involved – models, makeup artists, hair stylists and designers – were an especially enthusiastic and fun group. Already looking forward to next year!
Portland Spaces: Haunt
Right, back to this shoot with Holly Stalder at Haunt, the beautiful shop she co-owns with Laura Irwin and Rachael Donaldson. We had so much fun creating a portrait of this light and airy space!
Holly at Haunt
Here’s a sneak peek of a shoot at one of my favorite shops in Portland, Haunt. The shop is shared by designers Holly Stalder (Holly’s in the shot above), Laura Irwin and Rachael Donaldson. It’s a little space, but you can spend hours in there trying on Holly’s beautiful dresses, Laura’s soft knits and Rachael’s lovely jewelry. Holly and I are collaborating on a spring fashion shoot and I can’t wait! Stay tuned!
